Sure, I've got a business name registered with the state, complete with resale tax ID number.

But my gross sales in the last three years are nil.

I just haven't done anything with it.

I run some rental property, don't know if that counts. Not really a business per say. Mostly government assistance housing. Not enough to live off of as it's fairly recent purchases which the loans won't be paid off for 10-15 years. ug :(

But after that, booya :)

I've been holding my own since I discovered it at about the age of two.

I have a trading co. thats just me and my schedule-c for 3 years. No business license since I have no clients. The first 2 1/2 years were awesome, very tough though the past 6 months.

I know what you mean I was *required* by the county to get business liscence because of some... stupid ordince that was passed when I was like 5 I think it's becayse theya re greedy.

I did the same repair/consultneint tutoring I did before. but now I have a name

I'm the owner of "Elite Computer Services". I was going to spell it "l33t Computer Services" but the City council just about had a tissy fit. :) Ifigured if theyw ere going to force me to have a liscence I might as well have fun with it.:D

I do. Started it at 19. I still remember lining up at the government offices to submit my articles of incorporation and a female lawyer in front of me sounding like my mom and asking me if I understood what I was doing:)

Too bad I'm still in school and don't have enough motivation to do business and school simultaneously (Anand how do you do it!?). But I plan on eventually working for myself.

BTW, what the heck is a business license? What kind of business do you have that you need to be licensed?

I live in a small enough city that during the spring summer months we'll get people who are travelng through town they will setup shop for three days and disappear, so they made a mandatory temporary business license. so if there becomes of question of scam they can find them

What's the purpose of the license or is it not really a license at all (i.e. is it more of a registration fee?). Over here I had to pay a fee to register my business name and submit my articles of incorporation but there aren't any recurring fees and if I were to just go with a sole propietorship I wouldn't have to pay or register anything.

update
Obiwaynekenobi, thanks for the reply.

I own my own bussiness, and of course have my own bussiness licence. I bought the bussiness from my brother and have been owner/president (corporation) for about 7 years now.

It is a 2-way radio shop, and I have FCC licences for 2 paging systems, a 6 channel trunked radio system and 2 community repeaters. I am a Motorola 2-way radio dealer and MSS, iCOM radio dealer both LMR and Marine.

My webpage is pretty sucky. www.northerncomm.com
