How many MB off memory

I will buy a ABIT BD7 RAID and a 1,8 northwood for gaming
but i don't no how many MB off memory i shoot buy.
IN DENMARK 2 sticks off Cosair 256mb PC2400 CL2 cost the same
as 1 stick off cosair 256mb pc2700 cl2.
so please help me what to buy.:)

256 of DDR is ok if you are running a 9x based os. I would go with 512 if running XP or 2k though. Actually I would go with 512 no matter what. Check out kingmax pc2700 also...both crosshair and kingmax are good schtuff.

It depends on your operating system. If you are using win 98, 98se, ME, or 2K 256mb will be all your system can readily use. If you are on XP, you will gain a bit using 512.

Definitely 512!

I just clean installed XP, and although I am very happy with it, I've run out of physical memory a couple of times already with 256 installed (getting a "must increase virtual memory" message). I'll be upgrading to 512 soon.

Win98SE ran perfectly well on 256 for me.
