on one of my machines it's 1.08 GB. that seems like a lot.

how big is yours?

edit.

ok, here's the thing, in a Windows 2k Domain using active directory, if you set up roaming profiles, everything that is normally stored in the folder c:\documents and settings\{username}\ gets stored remotely on the server. sure you can cache that to a machine, but let's say you login for a different machine, what happens then? what ever it is that you quoted below is what needs to be transferred from the server to the workstation. now normally sysadmins will limit how much you can store in your profile. but if they don't. . . .

I don't use WinXP, but I'm assuming win2000 is the same... does this size of the profile include files you have in my documents too?

Anyway, I don't believe how you guys have SEVERAL GB for your profile. THat is INSANE!! :Q

The win2k machines here at work average 35-45mb, and my computer at home is maybe 100mb. But by just doing /documents and settings/profile you got a lot of TEMP internet files... I think if you went to control panel>system>user profiles you would get the actualy size of the profile...

usually. you can manually redirect My Documents to another folder or drive if you like but by default my documents takes you to c:\documents and settings\{user name}\{username}'s documents

1.11GB according the properties on the user profile folder.
250MB according to the user profile in the control panel.

I know my Outlook mailbox is about 900 MB of my profile.

158 MB. 148 MB of that is from Outlook's cached data. We run Outlook in Exchanged cached mode.

I had someone ask about "roman profiles" but I'm sure he was asking about roaming profles instead. Funny how things get twisted when people don't know exactly what they are talking about.

Cheers!

About 1.5GB. Research and teaching do that. :) BTW, I keep "My Document" on a separate partition from my OS, so I had to do some arithmetic to get to that number.
