how many links does it take to do a google trick with a common phrase?

inspired by the recent google trick about gw bush -
how many links do you think it would take to put a particular url at the top of the search results for "child molester" or something similar?
is there a way to find out the exact number? (statistics?)

seriously though, there's got to be some way to see how many sites link to some url right? that's all I need to know, then I just have to get more sites than that to link to whatever I want
