How many lies does it take for you to stop voting Republican?

This has nothing to do with Democrats.

I'm asking fellow Republicans here, how many lies does it take to make you not vote Republican. Watching the McCain campaign unfold this last month he has unleashed lie after lie after lie about his record, his opponent's record, and his VP's record. At what point do any of you say to yourself, do I really want this guy representing me?

Does it matter to you that McCain and his campaign are spreading outright lies on just about every issue imaginable?

This is the same subject matter as your previous thread. Threads are combined to reduce redundancy.

for the most part, I give campaigns a pass when it comes to deliberate misrepresentation in political advertisements.

if you get too bent out of shape about it, you'll forget that your guy is doing the same thing.

Nope :)

Most of the 'lies' are subject to debate. There are VERY few instances where you can find a candidate saying something that is totally 100% false and known to be false.

I think the proper question should be - How many lies does it take for you to stop voting for your party? Because if you think that lies are endemic to Republicans you're nothing more than a blind partisan tool.

Oh yes, because the whole Democratic platform is built around nothing but the truth, unicorns, and rainbows!

I hate all of the lying on both sides-- I wish they would tell us honestly and blunty what they want to do, and what they'll have to do that we won't like to get it done-- but presidential elections are like arms races... except the weapons are facts and rhetoric and misinformation... and the first candidate to blink, loses.

I don't know if any other party's "truthiness" can be summed up in 3 words:

"Read my lips"

True.

"I didn't inhale" might be a distant second. Or maybe the sight of the wagging crooked finger...

Then put your blinders on first, like usual.

Like I said, this thread is not about Democrats. I'm speaking to you Republicans.

You rationalize the lies as the ends justifying the means. Unfortunately when you choose the dark path you often stay on that path. Bush came into the White House as a fresh-faced outsider who was going to reform our country. We all saw what happened.

At what point do you stop accepting things the way they are and demand more from your public leaders?

1.) Lipstick on a pig referring to Palin
2.) Obama wants to teach sex education to kindergartners (perhaps the worst offense I've seen thus far)
3.) Palin is against earmarks (Alaska is the #1 state in terms of earmark ratio)
4.) Palin against the bridge to nowhere (outright lie, she was for it)
5.) Going on national television and saying the worst thing about campaigns is the negativity

Obama is for sex education for kindergartners. Have you read the bill he approved?

Uh huh. "Pay no attention to the man behind the curtain."

I'm not Republican or Democrat. I'm just sick and tired of the dipshits from both sides in here trotting out their their partisan crap. YOU are trotting out partisan crap that results in nothing more than a troll. It's garbage exactly like this why Obama is going down in the polls. Democrats can't quite figure out, despite all their proclaimed awesomeness and education, then wonder why they keep losing elections.

Well, I'll tell you why. It's because of threads like yours. You embody a complete turn-off attitude and that's why there's been a swing. People like me that think Obama should be our next president are pissed off at people like you who think belittlement and character assassination of the other guy is the way to win. Please. Pretty please. STFU. People like you are losing the election for Obama.

WOW!!! Now I understand how you rationalize your postings here. They must be totally 100% false and known to be false for you to know any shame.

ON TOPIC; "My candidate right or wrong!!", does describe the dogmatic and self-invested feeling Republicans have for their leader. No matter how many the lies, they will follow the leader over the cliff just like lemmings.

Unfortunately that bit of wisdom seems to be wasted on the far left.

There is truth in the partisan politics.

One side is clearly lying far more and far more egregiously than the other. Why do people act like both sides are the same, they are not. The Republicans have made ZERO attempt to portray the truth in anything they've claimed thus far.

I've seen a lot of news articles lately about McCain's distortions.. if this blows up into a bigger headline and gains some traction it could cause real trouble for him and his "Straight Talk" brand.
