Just saw the electricity bill. My apt is about 700 sq. ft. and all electric, no gas.

I used 409 Kwh last month and will have to pay about $35 (all taxes/fees/extra charges are included) or about 8.5 cents per Kwh.

So what are you paying per kwh at your location?

I calculated the "energy" cost to be $0.09 per KWh. However, after taxes and other crappy fees were added, it was almost $0.12 per KWh.

Stupid Blue Grass Energy Cooperative - homes a few streets over on Kentucky Utilities are about 30% cheaper! :|

I'm in a one year contract currently and paying 13.3c/kwh. My peak usage tops out around 1200kwh for July/August, although this month is shaping up to be about that much as well... stupid heatwave. Hopefully rates will stay lower until my contract expires in September.

I paid $6 for electricity each month since November along with $6 in taxes and for the connection.

You're paying like $0.06 per kwh? Where do you live?

My calculation was around 9.4 cents per kwh, not 6 cents.

Sorry, I didn't calculate it at all, you're right. It's 9.4, which is more reasonable.

don't have my bill handy, but I believe last month was around 17 cents/kwh, and the bill was around $92....I think I used around 400 or so kwh, but I will have to check when I get home.
This is with gexa energy in the dallas area, and yeah, I am ready to find a new(cheaper) provider. Did I mention this is in a 700sqft apartment that is all electric, building wide hot water heater, and I did not turn the a/c on once last billing cycle. The main lights I use, I have swapped out for cfl's, I very rarely cook, and the only thing that runs all the time is my 55g aquarium and the refrigerator. My computer is probably turned off 50% of the time that I am not home...

Power to Choose, just in case you didn't know about the site... :) Check out rates in your area, compare plans, etc.

Yeah, I have been watching that site and keep thinking about changing or atleast locking into one of gexa's 6 or 12 month fixed rate plans.

Looking at my bill:
457 kWh
17.02 cents/kWh
$77.76 for electric
$14.97 worth of misc fees and taxes
$92.73 total and I haven't even thought about turning on the a/c...

I usually use about 150 kWh @ 10.35 cents/kWh
$5 reliability charge (yea, wtf)
$8.06 customer charges
$0.03 state charges

Last bill of 158 kWh cost me about 19.11 cents/kWh. Last months bill for 138 kWh cost me about 19.83 cents/kWh. I can live it up and blast the AC, go up to my baseline allotment of 250 kWh @ 10.35 cents/kWh, for a total of $39 with fees, which comes to about 15.6 cents/kWh. So in the summer months, I don't even bother saving power like the power company wants me to do. Power per kWh gets cheaper as more is consumed. Heck even in the summer, the utility raises the baseline more. Another $10-12 a month to keep my place cool, no problem!

I haven't updated my spreadsheet since May 08, but for period of 6/1/07 thru 5/31/08 my monthly average was about 900 KwH and I paid about $130/mo.
We've had a sizeable rate increase since then, so add about 15% to that total.

When we first moved here in 1988, the local utility electric rates were about 1/2 of what PG&E customers paid. Now, we're up to about 75-80%.

Look like our electric company (AEP) has one of the lowest rate vs. other posters.

I can't belive some of you are paying 15 cents per kwh or higher. Yike.

$75.17 for 546 kWh comes to 13.7c per kWh.
$20 of that is a fixed cost not dependent on monthly kWh used.

On my bill it has a "price to compare" @ .0553 if i want to compare energy prices but according to that 'Power to Choose' site posted above there's no other options in my area.
