How many IRQs does the Audigy Platinum take up?

I am having a problem getting the sound to to work with the rears on my system and I can'update the drivers since they say I have not installed the Audigy card (which physically is the case as well as the first set of drivers on the CD that came with it)... I do have an unknown device and have installed the Firewire drivers and that unknown device did not go away so I am wondering if that unknown device on another IRQ (it is on the video card IRQ so the unknown device could be another device on the video card since its an asus geforce3 deluxe with video in and out but as far as I can see both of those extras are installed) pertains to the Audigy card.

Please anyone... I know its not so difficult to look up and I know many of you out there own this card... just a simple answer... I'm getting tired of Creative's site saying they have no help for my product under win2k because it is so new... 1 year old and its new huh? weird and worst of all they claim that you can get tech support from them with a reference to their non existant tech support page for this product under their contact us section... now that's superb tech support (a circular reference)... wonder if they have that department at all. their webpage and support suck! maybe its time for a santa cruz... especially if this POS expensive item doesn't work... i've posted a bunch of threads here in this section about this the last couple of days and i've tried a lot of different stuff but nothing works... i don't think i got a lemon because if i do i can't contact them (and why would stereo sound work at all)... they have no tech support... i have no lemon (i hope)...

I know they have an email address but like so many other companies... i'm guessing they "forgot" about that email address and its just antoher email address that dumps into an uchecked inbox....

sorry to rant but i've had some bad luck lately with these companies and their tech support.... ie ASUS and their reply to only 1 email address per emaill address account policy where you can only get one reply per email account... forcing you to create as many accounts as you have questions...they let over a dozen go by after answereing my first about their TV box product...

the audigy itself uses 1 irq & the firewire another. I haven't installed the dos drivers in my win98 machine but I suspect if I did it would use another irq like the sb live.

The Audigy takes two. Like bacillus said, one for the card itself, another for the firewire. An unknown device doesn't necessarily take up an IRQ. It could be anything. You don't have a motherboard that has on-board audio, do you?

Yes my Epox 8KHA+ (no overclocking of the system yet) has onboard audio for which I have disabled it through the BIOS and also teh onboard joystick port... For the Audigy I have tried both the joystick port connected and disconnected on clean installs of WIN2K and still an unknown device appears. It must be something else but I don not know what it is or could be... maybe I'll install the onboard audio and us that because now my audigy is not installing at all in any of teh PCI slots except I ahven't tried slot 2 since my Promise Fasttrak 100 TX2 is needed to be in there or else teh system won't boot.
