If I make a mistake, I'll gladly own it.

We're human, we all screw up. The point is to learn from them and not repeat the same mistakes.

Ban! Mod callout!

Errr... wait...umm.. I'll let myself out shall I?

I don't have that tab so I guess none. I've been banned for a week or a two a couple times though.

No, no they don't.

Yeh, like the GIANT sticky we left up for months and months and months wasn't enough fair warning? We Pm'ed people until we were blue in the face and people still didn't update their info. It's not our fault nobody bothers to read or comprehend the rules or stickies.

They sure as hell do find the ont thing we ever do wrong and pick that apart though.

Well I never got a PM. Harumph. :p

I just read the giant sticky again..there must've been a different one before because the current one was posted about 3 months after my infraction (4/6/10 and 1/23/10 respectively). I just find it ironic that after almost 10 years and 130ish positive transactions, I got dinged for something that was purely unintentional. Ahwell.

The original sticky (which was actually the same thing as what is there now) was posted 11-07-2009, has been there ever since in one form or another, and some people STILL haven't added their email addresses.

Like I said, We really thought a sticky that was up for many many months would have covered it. Since we left it up for an extended period without infracting people, at some point you have to move forward and start holding people accountable.

And for the record, WE didn't wipe out any profile settings in FS/FT. It's a manually entered field that YOU needed to populate. Basically, FT allowed us to make that field visible, VB doesn't.

Are there different levels of infractions that trigger discipline for different posters?

Seems like alkemyst and Hal9000 can do whatever they want with impunity? Srsly, what's up with that guys?

I realize that, but it seems a PM would be less work overall than locking a thread, editing the thread, and issuing an infraction. Perhaps not if you consider having to follow up after, I dunno. I tried to look up the date of the original sticky, but it's gone now and the new thread is dated several months later.

I thought I put that on the forum changeover, not the mods.

Not really, because many we pm'ed didn't bother to fix it and we had to do it again. Plus since it's all manual, other mods may PM as well thus causing confusion to the member.

Infractions are "automatic" by the system and leaves the infraction comment in your profile so other mods can tell what was already done and when. If you don't comply, it's easy to see and track.

basically you're allowed to do anything you want, break any rules you want. HOWEVER, if you do anything that happens to anger certain people, you get banned, warranted or not. it's all very subjective, and protecting the egos of these people is the basis of their decisions. It's not about creating a pleasant atmosphere on the forum, it's about censoring the things they don't like to hear.

This, of course, is just my opinion from what I have observed.

what i want to know is: how did this unofficial rule come about that that bowel movements are unmentionable and thus lockable, but any and every other bodily function may be discussed with impunity

It bothers you that you can't post about your bowel movements?

None since the switch to vBulletin. I've been banned twice (permabanned once) and mod warned a few times.
