How many idiots deep fried turkey inside this year in your area?

Only one I know was nearby in Oregon where some construction workers wanted to celebrate the finishing of a house they had just built. They decided to deep fry inside the garage, where the soon found out that a house can be demolished by fire faster than they can build it.

Yes, let's laugh at the misfortune of others on Thanksgiving.

My uncle almost burned down his place once. Did a turkey, grease fire got so hot that the siding on his house melted.

I agree that people should read up and use extreme caution. But I don't laugh when someone's house burns down.

it's only funny because no one was hurt.

i have a turkey deep fryer. i've only used it once and it was on the driveway, about 15 feet away from the house. i read the instructions and stuff online, taking all precautions. a nice turkey without a hitch.

deep fried turkey tastes so.damn.good. 😀

It is not a problem to deep fry indoor, however you have to be careful and the grease/smell takes along time to clear out.

Use a non expose element/no flame and turn up the heat slowly so any dripping grease/oil don?t reach combustion temperature.

it's not a problem to deep fry indoors, but deep frying a turkey in those big deep fryers made for turkeys shouldn't be done indoors.

At least the house the OP is referring to was unoccupied... a house can be rebuilt, things with sentimental value cannot.

There's a difference between misfortune and stupidity. Who has never heard that you don't use turkey deep fryers indoors? How can someone miss the annual stories of peope burning their houses down. For the first few years, sure it was tragic (and misfortune). However, ignoring those stories and ignoring the instructions in which it is prominently written "DO NOT USE INDOORS" is stupidity. 🙂

Undaunted, Schmerber and his co-workers bought a second turkey and cooked it in the backyard of a house across the street.

"We're gonna burn another house down," Schmerber joked.

awesome
