How many here have actually put an extended warranty to use?

I had a Visor Prism I had purchased from another person with a 2 year Staples warranty. A couple weeks before the end of the warranty the battery crapped out. They replaced it. About a week after the warranty expired it died again. I threw it away last week.

I have used the purchase protection that I get with my AMEX. I had a Dell Axim die after 1 year and a few days, they refunded me the full purchase price.

i have twice. one was for a head unit in a car cd player, and also a stereo/tuner for a house. both times i blew an internal fuse which they replaced under warranty.

depending on the item, it can be a good thing.

i bought it on my 50" DLP TV, i think i'm going to call them and have them focus it shortly here. then right before it wears out, i will have them replace the bulb.

EPoX was nice enough to extend the warranty on my 8RDA+ to 3 years because of the leaky capacitor catastrophe. All I had to do was email them.

Best Buy came out and replaced a busted part on my 48" JVC HDTV. This was just a few months after the manufacturer's warranty ran out.

I used an extended warranty on my microwave. But I did buy the warranty after the fact... 🙂

I put a toaster oven too close to the front of the micro and melted the door.

I just used the extended warranty on my TV to get the tuner replaced - was getting a dark/grainy picture, and playing with the controls didn't help. Unfortunately, neither did the new tuner 🙁

iriver mp3 player at best buy, stopped working, went in, they gave me a new one plus money back because it dropped in price.

At least you can call them back and get to the bottom of the issue with that warranty😉
