It has nothing to do with being country or a nerd....I'm neither and I did it for 20 years. Do yourself a favor and quit now. I wish I would never have started the habit now, but I have been dipless for 2 1/2 years now and couldn't feel better.

I have never understood the whole tobacco addiction thing. I normally dip just a few times a week and most days I will smoke around 3 cigarettes. If I don't have either it doesn't bother me and I can go for long periods of time without either. How much do you dip a day?

11 years and counting.

I've tried quitting several times, I think the longest I lasted was 4 months.

I've tried it but don't actually do it. I have several friends who do and one who quit after 14 years (started when he was 12). he couldn't ever find a way to quit until I told him to eat a whole can. well, he did and didn't like it (lets just say it wasn't pretty) but hasn't had one since.

You actually said the magic words.....you don't like doing it anymore. That is the point I reached and decided the time was right. I decided when my last can was and when I finished that can I never looked back. It took about 3-4 days to break the physical addiction and then it was just perseverence for the first few weeks. I made it a contest with myself. Quiting cold turkey is the only way you will ever be able to do it. I can take a big wiff of a can today and not have the urge to dip.....feels quite good.

Just a rumor. There is a Swedish study that came out that said dipping was 98% safer than smoking.

Edit- BTW do you rinse your mouth out, brush, floss and use mouthwash after you dip? I do and I have never developed leukaplakia or had anyone make a comment that it was gross.
