just a question...
i'm studying for CCNP right now... I'm planning to take the Remote Access Exam first..

Any nice advice/tip ?

I got the Cisco books so i'm studying off of that... but any other advice ?
How long it took you guys to study for each test ?

Thanks guys,

Well I'm not CCNP, yet, still deciding if I should start studying for that, or upgrade my MCSE to 2k first, but I've found alt.certification.cisco very helpfull.

I'm a CCNP (Winter 1998) and have security specialization. Need to recertify in next 2-3 months.

Waiting for my next CCIE lab attempt... also have NNCSE (Nortel).

Take the Support exam (640-506) last, since it covers stuff from the other three, like troubleshooting OSPF (Routing), config/maintenance of VLANs (Switching), etc. I guess it's sort of a no-brainer.

Yer nortel certified?!

How does the nortel IOS differ from the Cisco IOS?

How did you prep for your nortel cert?

hey EasyE, how do you get sercuiry specialization with CCNP ? Do you take one extra exam or do you take different exams ?

Nortel doesn't use IOS, but I see what you're getting at. I have no clue on that one. Most Nortel stuff is configured with a little GUI interface, which, if I remember correctly, sets everything via SNMP sets and gets. Much like Ascend's high end switches. In fact the Ascend CBXs only allow you to set it's IP and gateway via the command line, everything else has to be done via their software (Naviscore I think it's called. I duuno, everything is Navi-something for those funky things).

I didn't even know Nortel offered certs. Doesn't surprise me though I guess. I think 3Com offers certs for their stuff as well know.
