Got my first fraudulent charge on my bill today. I don't know which online site was compromised, but I know it was online because that's all I use that card for. Someone wired via emoneymail (like PayPal, etc) $500 from my card.

It just seems kinda crazy the potential for fraud online... I don't have to pay for it or anything, but the principle of the thing is kinda scary.

Have a lot of people encountered fraudulent charges due to online stores?

Someone in our office had the same thing happen to them. Good luck trying to have pay*pal help you out. They're worthless, just like x.crap.

It hasn't happened to me yet. The only fraudulent charges I've ever experienced were related to a crooked clerk at a Sears brick-and-mortar store. Use of credit cards is somewhat risky in any situation, but the convenience far outweighs the risk. Can you imagine placing an online order and having to wait a couple of weeks for a check to clear?

I got all these calling card charges on my Mastercard a few months back. Someone must have snagged my card number online.
