How many hard drives do you have and need?

Basicly I'm building a computer for a variety of things, namely: pro audio, pro video, games, and miscelaneous stuff such as your word processor, photos, dvd burning ect..

What would you think of a AMD64 3500+, MSI K8N Neo2 combination? For hard drives I'm looking at getting maybe a Maxtor MaXline III with NCQ (I plan on using multipule programs at once).

How many hard drives do you think I need? I thought I'ld get one for programs and OS, one for storage. But I might need a scsi drive for some audio stuff. And what about backups?

Anyways even if I get a 300GB for storage I probably don't need anywhere near that much for the programs. What would you recommend?

THanks

I'd just get 2 medium sized drives.
Maybe a couple 160's or a couple 200's if you really think you need that much space.

No matter how many programs you have or how many different types of things you have, there really is no need for many drives aside from being short on storage.
the only reason I suggest 2 even is for data redundancy.
that's the only real reason I have 2 drives.

A 700MB CDR holds about 70mins of crappy VCD quality video w/audio. You do the math.

P.S. The last post in bang on.

Get as much internal storage as you can afford, and a dual-layer DVD burner. Media's still expensive now, but even single-layer can hold a decent amount of DV.

My setup:
1 80gb drive for os and files.
3 60gb drives, raid-0 for games and video editing. (bought them when 60gb was BIG)
