I have an inwin q500 and an antec 300w PS... later this year I plan to put a t-bird into it along with some kind of IDE raid 5 array. I'm planning on using 4 to 6 IBM deskstar 75gxp or 60gxp (when it comes out) hard drives. Can the 300w PS handle it all?

The 300W probably can handle it, but since you seem to be going all out on your new system, why not get a bigger power supply? There's nothing worse than having power troubles... they are often hard to diagnose, and are a real pain to deal with. You should buy one of the Enermax power supplies that are like 400-500W.

This takes a little time but if you add up the wattage maximum requirements for every device you plan to install including the case and motherboard fans and then compare it to the specs on the PS you should be able to tell if you are within the limits.

Bear in mind that the label, "300W power supply" does not guarantee any performance. There are good quality 250's out there that are more stable and farm out more juice than some 300's. Just make sure you've got a good, reputable brand-name PS and you should be fine for your RAID.

I have 2 hddrives,1dvd,1cdr,and a tv wonder card, with an antec 300w ps, which normally runs fairly stable, but if you flick on the tv, and something else is running, sometimes I'll get the "auto" reboot. I'm upgrading to a sparkle 350 w, 220 W to the 3.3v and 5v output, vs 150 w to the 3.3 and 5 v output with the antec.
