How many Gigs you got?

I'm just curious how computers compare considering how cheap drives are it'd be easy to get a Terabyte system.

this is acessable drive space
so that means if you got 2 100Gig drives in Raid 1 then that counts as 100 Gigs

250 WD
200 WD
120 Maxtor
120 WD
--- main PC = 690 gigs
backup drive is 160 Maxtor

doing some testing so i took the 250 off for some testing.

My lossless FLAC music server has 650 GB online, plus another 450 GB I keep separately and attach for backups.

My desktop has 280 GB.

My old desktops have a combined 195 GB spread out over 7 drives (60,60,43,20,8.4,2,1.6).

NokiaDude exactly...

especially when you consider the #5 supercomputer in the world has only 44 Terabytes of disk space

ok then.. to all you people with half a terabyte of memory...

what do you do with all of it?

edit videos?
rip all your DVDs to Divx?
have 2 years worth of mp3s?

FLAC lossless audio compression is 100% CD quality, but requires 300 MB per CD. I own about 1,200-1,300 CDs (after 16 years of collecting) of which I've ripped about 800 so far. By the time I'm done I'll have used at least 406 GB for them plus another 406 GB as offline backup.

Besides OS, the other space on the music server I'll be using for MP3 or AAC versions of the CDs for use with my flash MP3 player and/or an ipod.

On my desktop machine much of the space is empty so far, but just loading OS, office, Visual Studio and VS.Net has used 14 GB, and some of the games I've loaded use 1 - 4 GB apiece.

one 40gb barracuda IV. Just under 18gb free.

Would fill it easy if I didnt make a habit of uninstalling games once I'm done with them, but TBH I've no idea how so many people fill up these huge drives unless they use it for "work", have huge collections of music/DVD rips, or approach Kazaa with the mindset that "if it's there, it's to be downloaded".

410GB in my main PC (160GB+250GB)
706GB in my Server (6.4GB+80GB+100GB+200GB+160GB+160GB)
250GB in my Xbox
160GB in my Tivo (80GB+80GB)

thats just over 1.5TB if I'm counting correctly
