How many gallons do you have left in you gas tank when your fuel light comes on?

My tank is 19.5 gallon capacity and fill up after fuel warning lamp comes on takes about 15 gallons, so I got 4.5 gallons left.

4.5/19.5=23%

The gauge goes all the way to E and low fuel light comes, but at this point there's 1/4 of total capacity left.

I wonder if they consider 1/4 as an arbitrary empty.

I fill up when there are literally Pints left in my Astro. When I go to fill it up, I make sure the total gasoline purchased is around 25.5gl. (My Astro being as having a 26gl fuel tank )

31 gallon tank in the Chevy Avalanche, have 6 gallons left when the light comes on.

16 gallon tank in the Accord, about 2.5 or 3 gallons in that one.

In my mom's Cherokee, 2 gallons on the 20 gallon tank. Yet she ALWAYS waits until the light's on to fill up. In my Dakota, 5.5 gallons on a 22 gallon tank. And I usually fill up before that.
