Hypotheticly If I was to want to make several Full size calendars. How many full size pictures (good quality) could I make with one ink cartrige? What would be the best printer for Printing big prints? Are there over sized printers in the consumer market? Concerning ink, Are there cheap refill options? Like buying big bottles of ink that you can just refill a cartrige with?

Thanks.

The amount of pages a cartridge can print is determined by the yield of the cartridge. Some cartridges have different yields than others. With that being said the yield can vary depending on page coverage, and density settings. There is no way you could accurately determine how many calenders you will print from your cartridge, except for actually printing them all out and counting the calendars, even then yield will vary from cartridge to cartridge and also from the differences in temperature and humidity.

I don't have a printer for what I'm talking about. I'm thinking about buying one though if its reasonablely priced.

You want one of the wide carriage Canon printers with "single ink" technology, best with six-ink system so that the colors last the longest.

Ink consumption on large, color saturated prints on glossy paper can be quite impressive, regardless of printer model. This isn't cheap fun, nor suitable for larger numbers. For a single proof print or a special present, fine, but don't even bother trying to make several.

As others said - among other things it depends on the volume of ink in the cartridges/ink tanks and coverage and saturation settings as well as the type and size of paper used. The ink tanks on my Canon iP3000 are lasting a good long while (and I have been doing a fair amount of, ahem, color printing ;) ) and when I need new ones they will only be around $12. for a set of 4 (USA brand from USAinkjet on eBay).
. If you use matte paper to make your calendars instead of glossy, you will use much less ink. HP or Kodak presentation paper works really well for non-critical photo printing and is heavy enough to send the message that this isn't your average paper.
