how many files do you have on your computer?

just running a virus scan and noticed how many files there are...I am at 50,000 and I still have 2 more drives to scan...so how many do you have?
 
about 60,000 across 200 gigs on 3 HDs

thats what it said when i right clicked and went to properties for each drive. Norton has it at over 100K
 
Norton's count isn't anywhere near accurate. The last count it told me was around 1.8 million IIRC.

It decompresses common archive formats and counts the files WITHIN the archives. This includes JAR archives for java stuff.

ACTUAL files (not counting INSIDE archives) on my main machine:

149559 on C:
4221 on D:
E/F = CD/DVD
22482 on G:
6147 on H:
102173 on I:
79724 on J:

Just think: FAT16 only had 65536 allocation blocks.

Figure about 1500-2000 "files" in /proc that should be subtracted. Still leaves a bunch. Takes a long time to do a full tripwire scan of the system. 🙂
