Without a heatsink, your XP will only last you a few seconds. If you have a heatsink but no fan on, it will last you less than a few mins. So, you need a heatsink and a fan (get xp 1600 retail cause it comes with hsf+fan, 3 year warranty and a cool athlon xp sticker) and a case fan (1 will suffice).

Advice - for bare minimum cooling, you should probably get an exhaust fan as well. It's not necessary, but it is VERY helpful to have...power supply fans don't tend to pull too much air OUT of the case.

Are you looking for something quiet or for something with more performance? I know you said no OC, but you still may want to have your system running really cool.

actually, amd will send you the athlon xp stickers free of charge and will ship them free as well

im not sure if they do it anymore though, i called about 4 weeks ago and asked for em and they sent em, but now i tried dialing the same number and it didnt work, also, i checked on amd's site and no phone number was listed for the literature center, so i dont know if they still do it
