How many fans?

How many fans are in your comp. I mean all fans, cpu, case, psu, chipset, everything. I have 9. 5 case fans, a cpu fan, a chipset fan, vid card fan, and 1 psu fan

9 - 120mm (slow turning) case/radiator fans in a U2-UFO case. Controlled by bigNG.
1 - PSU fan on a Seasonic Energy+ S12.

Everything else is watercooled on an EVGA 680i MB.

I think there was a thread like this awhile ago... Oh well my case has changed now!

I have 8 fans right now. 3 case fans, 1 CPU fan, 1 GPU, 2 in one PSU, and 1 in the other PSU. Currently running tandem PSUs until my replacement PSU comes (my 9 month old Antec died). Once I have just 1 PSU again I'll have 6 fans since the new PSU has just one 120mm fan in it.

1 80mm in my PSU
1 92mm for CPU
1 cooling set on my graphics card
2 120mm for front/back intake/exhaust

and If I could.. I'd remove fans still 😉

Current... Um, 1 (laptop). Old machine, now in storage: 8x92mm intake, 2x120mm exhaust, 2x120mm on CPUs, 2x92mm on hd enclosures, 1 on video card.Oh, and 2--one in each PSUs. So, that's 17 total.

9

1x200mm on top
2x120mm front
1x120mm back
1x120mm side
1x120mm Cpu cooling
1x80mm and 1x120mm PSI
1xsomething northbridge

Antec nine hundred case - and it's quiet

two 120mm intakes (Cooler Master Silent LED)
one 120mm rear exhaust (Cooler Master black)
one 120mm PSU fan (Adda)
one 80mm window exhaust fan (Cooler Master 2000RPM)
one 60mm NB fan (Delta, undervolted to ~3000RPM with FanMate 2)
one 72mm on video card cooler
one 96mm on CPU cooler

I used to use this monster case, a Supermicro SC-750A fully loaded with (high-speed) fans - 12 total. The damn thing sounded like a vacuum cleaner when I fired it up.

4x80mm - side intake drive bay cooling
3x80mm - front intake
1x92mm - CPU side intake
1x80mm - rear upper exhaust
1x40mm - rear CPU exhaust
1x? - PS fan
1x80mm - Heat sink fan

Edit: forgot one, added details

2 120's
2 80's
1 120 cpu fan
1 120 psu fan
1 gpu fan

7 fans in all... the main case fans are on a controller, so overall its very quiet.

One rear 120mm case fan on low

One each for gpu, cpu, chipset

One in the PSU, and a second one in the PSU which has never come on because my rig never gets hot.

QX:
3x120 orange yates on radiator
1x120 AF12A
1x120 AF12 in HD cage

=5

MC:
2x120 orange yates on radiator
1x120 AF12A on rear radiator
1x100 on rear HD cage

=4

NAS:
3x120 orange yates on radiator
3x120 AF12's on 3 different HD cages on stacker
1x120 AF12A on rear exhaust

=7

All my fans are on sunbeam rheobus.. i have to admit these guys are the best for the price and function hands down.

2x Sanyo Denki 120x38 on Rad
1x Yate Loon 120x25 front intake
1x 92mm in PSU
1x 80mm in PSU
2x Delta 60x10mm on video card
1x 50(?)mm on NF4 chip
1x Delta 40x28mm over PWM

Three 120's - all at about 700 rpm. One inside Seasonic 600W PSU and two on my radiator.

No chip set or video card fans.

Total: 7

2 - 120mm Yate Loon exhaust,
1 - 120mm Yate Loon blowhole,
1 - 135mm in Aerocool ZeroDBA PSU,
1 - 120mm Panaflo on the XP-120,
1 - 120mm Yate Loon zip tied to the Panaflo which is perpendicular to the Panaflo and sucks air up from the fins of the XP-120.
1 - 80mm fan installed on the Thermalright V-1 GPU cooler.

1x rear case 120mm fan, 1x 80mm PSU fan, 1x 70mm(?) fan on default Athlon64 heatsink, 1x?? fan on my graphics card. All relatively quiet.

So total 4.

I have 5.

2x80 Panaflo exhaust - on a fan controller usually at lowest speed.
1x120 PSU fan
1x92 VF900 - undervolted to 5v
1x120 Scythe Infinity - up to 1200RPM - silent.

With everything dialed down, I can barely hear it and I sit RIGHT next to it - it's on top of my desk.

3x120mm case fans
1x80mm case fan
1x120mm PSU fan
1x120mm CPU fan (tuniq tower)
1xGraphics card exhaust fan

Total of 7 fans, the computer is very quiet doing everything but gaming where the fan on the X1950XTX can get quite loud.

now, who cares about the amount of fans. isnt it more important for them to all be working together?? you can have 10 fans but if they are all working against one another its pointless and bad for cpu!!

so, the better question I think should be.

what is the best way to arrange the many fanes one has??

9 fans
4x80mm case fans on a fan controller all the way down (still blows)
1x120mm exhasut fan on a psu fan controler
1x120mm psu fan
1x92mm cpu fan
1 chipset fan
1 vga fan (Nv Silencer Rev. 3)

2 92mm in front of case
1 120mm in rear of case
1 on 7950GT
1 in Corsair power supply
1 on Scythe Ninja

= 6 fans total and the PC is still near silent when not gaming.
