How many fans are enough?

Right Now I have 2 out takes and 3 intakes. Im planning on getting 2 more. Right now the case is at 19C. But my 2500+ is idling at around 40C on average(stock) with an Alpha Pal6035 HSF. Would getting more case fans help reduce the cpu temperature?

Probably not.

Have you tried removing one of the intakes? With an airflow that uneven I wouldn't be surprised if hot air is building up somewhere. It might even take your CPU all the way down to 39. ;)

It's better to have a balanced flow. I don't know if it's causing you any trouble as your temps are relatively low but it couldn't hurt to experiment and find what works best for you.

An exhaust fan on the top of my computer helped the hot air that would gather there escape. Also, I like to have the lower part of the case be intake, and the top part exhaust, so that it works with natural convection. Also, all the fans' airflow intersect right about where the cpu is at.

If your ambient temp is the same as your room temp it's gonna be real hard to lower it much further by just adding a few fans. You might see 1C difference.

Just keep cats, rotents, fingers, or any other errant object away unless you want a vegoMatic missile going into your PC :)

19C case and 40C CPU aren't bad at all. I'm at 30 and 48 right now.

How many fans? It varies. My main system has been modded, and has 3 exhaust (PSU included) and 2 intake (not all are the same size in the lineup). My secondary system is an Antec SLK3700AMB - it has 3 fans - two exhaust (one is the PSU's), and one intake. It runs quiet and cool - 28C case, 41C CPU. Both systems use an Alpha 8045. So it depends on where the fans are, and how the overall airflow is.

19C is a great case temp. I don't really see getting any better unless you run chilled air into it. I keep mine at full load all the time, and the ONLY air entering the case has already passed over the heatercore. My case temp varies from 28~30.

Just occurred to me to do the conversion.
19C = 66.2F. How cold is your room???
