I buy about 10 DVDs a month and I've had a DVD player since 1997. I'm way past that 101 limit you set. :p

Looks like I have 7 DVDs now. I have bought 2 myself, and the rest have been gifts over the last couple years. I rarely watch movies more than once, so I'm not one to buy them.

My Collection:

Family Guy Season 1, Holy Grail, Phish: Bittersweet Motel, Allman Bros, String Cheese: Evolution, Rage Against the Machine: Battle of Mexico, and Caddyshack.

Picked up a ton back in the day of Reel.com and all the other cheap DVD offers back then. I've recently completed two Columbia House memberships where I average out to to $8-9 a DVD. See DVDTalk DVD Club forum if you are interested in how to maximize the Columbia House offers.

My dvd collection is experiencing a very slow growth rate due to the market trend of expecting a return greater than the rate that I'm willing to spend, or CAN spend. However, with my current financial forecast (lol), I expect a larger rate of growth (dvd collectionwise) in the near future.

Now that they have started to put TV shows on DVD, my collection will grow. I must have Star Trek TNG, and DS9. I here Babylon 5 is on the way, along with the Highlander, and Farscape. All must haves for me. I have around 65 now.

<< omg!! how many do you need man!!! :Q >>

I have a nice Home Theather setup and alot of people always come over my house to watch movies. Horror, Sci-fi, Romance, Anime, I have a section for each genre of film I collect. Ones that have sub categories like Anime and HK have their own room. About 200 HK/Korean DVDs from old school Jackie Chan like The Fearless Hyena to newer action comedies like Tokyo Raiders and Attack the Gas Station. About 400 import Japanese/Korean/HK films. About 300 import German/French/British DVDs (Danger Mouse, Montey Python, Black Adder). 200 or so domestic movies (I normally don't buy US films since I can see them in the theather if I want).

This month alone I'm getting 3 DVDs from Amazon.co.jp, 2 from HKFlix.com, 5 from buy.com, and other random DVDs from B&M when I have extra money.

After I sell 200 of my DVDs I'll be back to ghetto level with around 100 left, maybe I'll sell 250.

No, that's 400 + 300 + 200... I listed my HK collection and then I listed it again with my HK/Japan/Korea collection. See. It's not as much as you think. Anyway, I tried archiving my DVDs at one point with DVD Profiler, but they started charging and I'm cheap so I just let my list slide by the wayside.

Anyway, my collection isn't all that big when you consider that there are people in the Home Theather Forum who own every domestic DVD released. :/ HK DVDs cost about 1/2 the price of American ones and if you buy enough at once, it offsets the shipping charges.

Also back in the day of click through ads and 50% DVDs (old school Buy.com Reel.com, DVD Express, etc) you could get DVDs for 64 cents each. Ah... those were the days. Unfortunately places started going bankrupt and the free ride was over. I don't mind the new prices too much though.
