How many drives with ATA RAID?

All the SLI boards have 2 IDE drives, but for with raid. (they have 4x SATA though).

With nVidea raid, can I have 2 DVD burners, and two seperately working IDE hard drives or can you only have 4 drives if 2 of the 4 ATA drives copy what ever the other 2 drives do?

Thanks

Most motherboards have 2 IDE / PATA ports each of which can control 2 drives (4 total).

Many motherboards allow not using RAID for the SATA ports, so the drives are not locked together.

You can download manuals for most motherboards from the manufacturer website, usually
(company).com.tw (for example asus.com.tw)
