I had a Kodak POS that was a hot deal back in 2001 ($150 or so, IIRC).
Then a Fuji S3800 that mysteriously just stopped working one day (I think it might have been moisture related)
I've had a Fuji S5100 for the last two years, and taken over 5,700 pics with it.

3 that I've used:

Olympus C-750 10x 4MP
Rebel XT
30D

Technically, I've "owned" 11:

Olympus
9 x Rebel XT, sold 8 and was able to keep the 9th with the profits.
30D

Minolta DiMAGE X -> Konica Minolta DiMAGE G600 -> Casio Exilim EX-Z60

I just got the Casio and still have the other two, although I rarely take pictures.

One ....

A Minolta that I picked up a few years ago. I don't know the model number. I can tell you it's a 3.4 megapixel camera with a 2x optical and 2x digital zoom, but that's all I remember.

I bought a Canon SD1000 a month ago? I know, I'm a noob. But the next time a desk thread comes up? BAM I'm ready.

I have owned 3 Minolta's, 2 olympus, 4 canons, 1 vivitar, 3 hp, 1 sony, and 4 Panasonic and out of them all I find the Panasonic to be the better taking of them all. The thing I liked about the Canon was its ability to take great video, but it lacked on getting focus right when taking shots on the cuff were needed, all the rest followed in that and took some not so detailed shots, or colors were off, to my liking, having to adjust in post, but with the Panasonics with the Lecia lenses, I get maybe 1 out of 100 shot the focus will be off, color is spot on, and the detail is crisp.

I have had the FZ3, FZ20, A smaller model with a 3x optical cant remember the model number, and own the FZ5 now. Last canon I had was the S2IS and hated it with a passion. Never got the focus right, had to constantly re take shot after shot after shot, and if my son did something cute I had to pray the focus was right, which it never was, losing my one in a million shot, and detaill compaired to the FZ3 was softer. Was happy when I traded it off.

I've owned one (and it still works excellently today): Canon PowerShot S400.

I'm going to be getting a Canon Digital Rebel XT for my birthday too. :)

2 canons, a powershot S40 (great cam, the door is broken so i'm looking for parts cams on ebay, also having a hard time replacing it), and i believe i was the first XTi owner on ATOT.

i'm thinking of getting a G7. i'm also thinking of getting a K100D (nice M42 lenses plus IS ftw) and an olympus E-410 (it's very small, almost like an MF camera like an OM2 or an AE1, i bet it looks great in silver). yes, i am a whore. no nikons though.

i don't have any money though.

anyone know when the 5D Mk II is due? i'm guessing we'll see a 1Ds Mk III first (sept 07, that'll give the 1Ds Mk II a 3 year run) at 24 mp with the 5D Mk II at 16 mp (after stock of the 1Ds Mk II is cleared out).

Cameras are cheap. It's everything else that gets you ;)

HUH, whats the everything else you speak? I got my FZ5 with a strap, case, 1 gig stick, and it came with a lense hood, and all I could think of. Would like to get some filters, but cheap ones.

Unless your talking about those cameras that are professionals only, body only, for $2000 and a lousy lens for it is $900, then yes, but a good regular Joe digital camera like mine, once you get it, it has a 12x optical zoom, a 2x adapter on ebay is about $30 making it 24x optical, a few filters for about $50, and its got about all it can get.
