How many devices can I have?

OK, I know I'm reasonably lost here, but............. . I've got an ABIT KG7 MB and had 4 HD's on it, as well as 2 CDROMs. I do a lot of video work which gobbles up GB's like crazy. I went out and bought another HD, fired it up, formatted it etc., but only 4 HD's show up. At boot time, all 5 HD's are listed, 2 on the IDE and 3 on the HPT Raid. All 5 show up on device manager. It seems that when I disable one of the 3 drives on the HPT, the other will appear next boot time. What am I doing wrong, or what is the restriction I'm missing? Thanks.

sounds like you just need to go into administrative tools, computer management, disk management and (this is probably not the right word) import the disk... windows has to do something funky to the disk to see it, should be listed there in disk managment, and right clicking should give you the option to "import" it

Computer management only lists the 4 HD's. The problem seems to be that only 2 disks on the HPT Raid controller are allowed to show up. Doesn't matter which two, just 2. At boot time all 3 are listed in the HPT conifg utility. BTW, I'm not using them as a raid system, just regular drives.

do you have the latest drivers for the RAID installed? Ya know, like during install when it says "press F6 to install SCSI or RAID drivers" or whatever
