How many dead/stuck pixels do you think is grounds for exchanging a new tv?

Just curious...would you guys do it for 1 (on a 1080P 46" TV, lets say)?

If not, how many?

dead pixels, 2-3. Suck pixels, ugg, they are very very annoying, I would return the TV immediately if there was even 1.

My 37" 1080P TV has 1 dead green subpixel. It isn't noticeable more than 8' away. I don't mind it. However, if that green subpixel was stuck on rather than dead, i would have returned the TV (Costco).

Yes, this. You might want to return it for 1, but depending on where you bought it, you could be sol.

I have 2 stuck pixels on my Sony Bravia 40", one of which is bright green. It really pisses me off and I would have returned it had I not bought it online. I can't really see it from more than 3ft away though.

That's the main reason I am willing to pay a little more at a b&m.

I saw on Newegg last night that you have to have 8 dead pixels before you can return it. I personally can't stand any.

amazon has an amazing return policy, i think even better than b&m. and if you dont get the warranty (even if you do i hear they have strict stipulations on dead pixels) then youre screwed either way, no?

not if its messed up/defective like that, only if you decide to return it and get a different model just because you decided you wanted something else/bigger.

Bingo.

When I bought my 24" LCD monitor, 2 years ago when they were ~$700, bought from Best Buy and made absolute certain I could exchange it if there were even a single dead/stuck pixel.

"Grounds for exchanging" is up to the retailer, I see no problem with a company offering lower prices with worse exchange policies. I'll pay a little more from a retailer who ensures perfection.

My TV was a DLP, so no worries there. Still bought it locally, don't want to chance shipping issues. It actually did break down the first year, and I got a sweet replacement. :)

When I bought my first 15" lcd monitor, it was almost $800, and had a stuck red. I did eventually get the store to exchange it, but it took a great deal of persuasion, causing a commotion in the store, etc. (I did try all the polite tactics first).

This is what I was thinking. From a normal TV viewing distance I wouldn't think it would be very noticeable.

Basically that's what it would come down to for me. If it's noticeable during normal usage I'd try to exchange. If not, who cares?

originally i had posted this:

http://img508.imageshack.us/my.php?image=img8854cx7.jpg Anyone have any idea of wtf this is? I dont think its a dead or stuck pixel/pixels. I cant see it from where i sit, but it still bugs me that it is there. There is a smaller one towards the right too. It almost looks like the screen is dirty, but its under the screen.

Well, in addition to this, when i put it on a white screen to see if there were any other dead/stuck pixels, i found a spot a few pixels wide/high, right at the area where the screen meets the frame, that is all messed up, like a bunch of stuck pixels. i found another area similar to this at the top (the other is at the bottom), but smaller.

in addition to this i have minor clouds and some lights at the top two corners, and i had some stuck pixels that i unstuck myself when i first got it.

Should i do an exchange? Its hard to see these problems, but im scared that i got a bad panel that will screw me later on.

0. If I'm paying for an expensive electronic, I'm not going to accept it anything less than flawless. I wouldn't buy a new phone with a warranty that stipulated how big of a scratch the screen could have out of the box.

If *I* damage it, it's one thing. If I'm paying $1-2k for something and it's damaged out of the box, it's absolutely fucking unacceptable.

Edit: Lets face it. All dead pixel policies are is a way for electronics companies to reduce their QA overhead by forcing the consumer to do their own QA.
