15 vacation days, earned at the rate of 1.25 days/mth. Plus stat holidays, sick days; and unpaid personal days. Thanks to a policy change next year only, I'll get 4.5 wks instead of 3wks., assuming I stay all year which I don't really intend to. After 8yrs goes to 20 days per year.

When the corp bought this facility from the previous owners (About a year before I was hired) they said - in different words, but in no uncertain tems - that if we even breathed a word about union, they would move the facility to India.

Agreed. But not very likely. For the same type of work, most of the locations in the area are offering about half the pay. And no better on overtime. (I hate mandatory overtime, and most manufactures in the area are 50+ hours a week.)

I get 25 vacation days plus holidays and 2 personal holidays. In a little less than a year (when I reach 10 years) I will get 28 days plus holidays and 2 personal holidays.
My company has a sliding scale for vacations. When you start, you have 0 hours, but gain 2 hours per week plus a standard floating holiday. They only let you save up your vacation days to a max of 3 weeks, but the floating holidays expire at the end of the year if you didn't use them.
However, if you've been with the company for a while, you can acrue more vacation days per year. I think at 5 years, you get 3 weeks per year, 10 years gets you 4 weeks, 15 years gets you 5 weeks and 20 years gets you 6 weeks per year (but you max out at that 6 weeks).

You are allowed to carry vacation time over to the next year at 18x your December accrual rate. So, for me, with 10 years of service, I get 15.4hrs per month and am allowed to carry 277.2hrs to the next year. Anything over that is paid out in cash at 75% value.
Plus, we work compressed (12 hour shifts). Three days one week, 4 the next. All of my weekends are 3 or 4 day weekends. I can use 3 days of vacation time and be off for 10 days.

38 days after 7 years. Started with 25. Government contractor..only way to fly if you have to work for a living and generally hate work like me. All the immunities from "downsizing" with better pay and benefits. Although I'm quiting next year to pursue both a business and PhD cause I'd like to teach and do principle investigator research someday and grow a beard to my knees. Even more days off then..plus a sabatical every so often. Life's too short I like to smell the roses and fish.
