How many credit hours/classes do you take per quarter and how many hours do you work a week?

I am planning my return to college to finally get my degree and am wondering how long it will take me to finish. I would like to be done as quickly as possible. I only work part time usual around 5 hours a day. SO I should be safe taking 2 maybe 3 classes per quarter, but if I can manage to do 4 every other quarter, that will allow me to finish in 2 years if I go all year round.

Just trying to get a feel for what others are doing and how well it is working for them. I do have a wife and son that I would like to spend time with as well as some personal time, so I will take longer if need be. I just want to get it done, but don't want to kill myself doing it.

I'm taking 14 semester hours and I work 45 hours/week.

Edit: I don't sleep much. I'm on campus from 9:00AM to around 3:00PM then I have to be at work by 4:30PM and get home around 2:00AM.

I'm taking 21 credit hours this term, looking to add 3 more, and I'm only going to be working weekends because I have two classes that will have 20 hours per week projects. :( *sigghh*

For the past two years i've been taking 21- 22 hours and working 20 hours a week. You get used to it after awhile, but you learn to love the weekends more than ever.

18 credit hours a week, 5 classes. Worked part-time with full time hours last year to be able to quit and dedicate myself fully to my studies. Recently decided I wasn't challenged enough and took on some volunteer programming work. Baaaaad idea. :p

I'm taking three credits this semester which is equal to one course. I work 40 hours per week. Last semester I took 6 credits and worked 40 hours a week. It's very stressful if you ask me. Some of these guys that do it here amaze me.

For the past 4 years i've been active duty Marine Corps working around 60 hours a week. The last two of those years ive been going to school in my off time, taking 15 units. I also freelance around 15-25 hours a week. Sometimes I even sleep a few hours a day...

I know some of you said how it was but can others give me thier opinion on how hard/stressful it is to take like 3-4 classes and work 20-25 hours a week? After hearing some of your numbers, this doesn't sound like much, so hopefully I can get it done.

When I was in college for undergraduate degree, I took at least 12 hrs (4 classes) per semester because of scholarship, grants, and student loans requirements. I sometimes took 15 hrs (5 classes). I worked about 4 to 5 hours a week, everyday so it was about 20 hrs of work every week or so.

It was not easy but not extremely hard either. I made decent grades (B average overall). If you know how to manage your time, not goofing off, and work hard, I think you can do it. Good luck.

this school year i've been taking it easy, 12 credit hours, and working 14 hours per week. Starting next year I plan to ramp up to 15 credits and 20 hours of work.

This quarter, I'm taking 18 credits, 4 classes, I work 20 hours per week, and I devote another 5 or so to extracurricular stuff (tutoring, writing an article from time to time, helping organize stuff for the economics dept., etc.).

I'm going through a phase where I'm attempting to simplify my life and focus on my long-term goals, so I'm dropping 5 hours of research/week that I've done earlier this year, and I'm pondering picking up karate a few days a week. Anything more than that and I get frazzled, not necessarily due to stress but just to having things hang over my head.

Good luck to you and finding your balance.

Cheers!
Nate
