How many credit cards do you have?

About once a year I get a credit card offer from one of my banks that is too hard to pass up. Most recently it was a new credit card with no balance transfer fee and 0% APR for the life of the transfer. I had up to 90 days to perform the transfer and the offer included 3 checks I could use for anything (including depositing into my account).

I have taken advantage of these offers before and used to money to invest or pay off large purchases like cars, student loans, etc. It has never come back to haunt me and I am sure the credit card companies hate me for it.

I very rarely carry a balance on any credit card unless it is to take advantage of one of these offers. Does anyone else do this?

I've thought about doing balance transfers, but never found it to be worth my while. If I carry a balance, it will be for 1 or 2 months, tops. I have a balance on one card right now that will be paid off next month (carried 1 month) and 2 total credit cards. This is the second time in my life I have carried a balance! :Q

Isn't opening too many credit accounts a bad thing? How many cards do you have? For those in the know, I have been eyeing an Amex card for quite some time. Would having 3 total cards be really bad, even if none of them carry a balance? If it matters, I actively use each card every month and pay it off in full when the balance is due.

I just got a rebate from cingular and it came in the form of a visa... wtf they hand out cards like candy. I had a Lowes card and it was changed to a visa. I try to avoid using credit cards but someone I have like 7-8 accounts now.

But I guess I will keep them around in case I need cash quickly on my way out of the country.

I've had only 2 cards for many years, and I have absolutely no plans to change that fact.

My cards have a monthly revolving balance; I pay the balances off at the end of each month.

I don't open accounts to take advantage of 0% financing. If I want a better deal on financing for a one-time major purchase, I call one of both of my current cards. They have always given me a special deal like 0% or an extremely low percentage for 12 months.

That cingular rebate card isnt a credit card. It's basically a gift card.
