With the constant influx of people trying to convince you to get more credit cards, I'm curious what the average is. How many credit cards do you have that you actively use regularly?

8 or so? I voted 5 then counted in my head. None carry a balance. I alternate based on quarterly rewards and the type of merchant.

2 and one debit/credit.

I use one regularly with a cash back bonus. The other is a spare.

Have 7 now. Use whichever one gives the most cash back on a particular purchase. Most were opened to get $200-$500 bonuses. Love me some free money.

Three, but I only use one. I will be cancelling the other two shortly. I opened a Sears Mastercard to get 15% off and free delivery on a mattress and opened an HBC Mastercard to get 20% off and free tailoring on some suits and other threads I purchased there.

I have 4, but I only use 1.

You shouldn't close old credit cards even if you don't use them because they increase the length of your credit history. Right? Is there a point at which you should cancel cards because you have "too many"?

I only have two, and keep no balance on either. One I have had since 1982, I only use it a few times a year to keep it active. I've had it since 1982, so it keeps my average credit length high. It also has an interest rate of only 7.9%, which will be nice if I ever have an emergency that requires me to carry a balance. Rewards are lousy.

The other has great rewards, so I use it to pay all bills and all purchases. It's an Amazon card, and the interest rates are outrageous at something like 19%. No matter, since I've never paid any interest on it.

Never had any store cards, or any use for them.

I have 24 cards, and I'm 23. My credit score as of August 4th is 782. I've flown in first class for free to various locations, and stayed in 5* hotels for free. Thank you very much, Chase, Citi, and Amex!

2. Visa and Discover. I mostly use the visa because it pays year round rewards on gas and Amazon purchases.

One. I put everything on it and pay it off completely every month. Then I use the rewards to buy fun stuff.

3. 1 generic visa from my bank, 1 from BB and 1 from Home Depot. The BB ad HD cards offer some really great financing options for large purchases for the rare instance when I do use them. BB likes to temp me by sending 5 and 10 dollar gift cards though.

Have two. Use a Visa pretty much exclusively, carry a Mastercard from a different bank as an emergency backup. Can't remember the last time I used it.

Just one, it's a canadian tire mastercard, interest is in the 25% range, I've been carrying a balance on it forever, but I just cleared it all yesterday

12 in total. Use several regularly. Sallie Mae card for 5% gas, groceries and Amazon. Chase Freedom and Discover IT for rotating 5% categories. Amex for double warranty on electronics purchases and rental insurance. A few store cards for 0% financing on larger purchases.

1 x VISA - personal spending
1 x MasterCard - business expenses
1 x AMEX - Costco rewards

None carry a balance past 30 days.

I'm in the middle of switching banks so I have 2 credit cards right now, but will be canceling the one at the old bank. Old bank is a Visa, new one is a Mastercard.

Why do people have more than one, is there any advantage to that? Wondering if canceling it is a bad move.

Just 1.

An EBT card. It allows me to buy steak, shrimp, cigarettes, and booze.

You've probably seen me or my receipts on the innernets, so you know it's true.
