How many credit cards do you have?

It amazes me how easy it is to get credit in this country.

I have about 13 cards. 2 of them are BT cards with 0% APR and I stuck that money in a high yield savings account (liquid). I pay my balance off every month (besides the 0% cards which I just pay the minimum and pay it off before the term is up). I just sign up for offers and then leave them around, or cancel them if they charge an annual fee. My latest is a Discover More card with a free Ipod Nano. I'll be selling that thing somewhere...

I don't think there are any places in the world where you can get credit 5x more than your income.

EDIT: added 0 cards to the poll.

I was told that having too many cards with un-utilized credit can be bad for a mortgage application but I'm not buying a house any time soon. I can cancel some if it comes down to that.

3 CC + 1 ATM/Check card. I've applied for a Macy's store CC once, but quickly canceled it. Don't plan on applying for any store cards in the future or ever. I don't carry balance on any of my cards and have never done any balance transfer.

I can also cancel if necessary. I don't have a mortgage now (paid off) so the equity from the sale of my current house "should" be enough to offset a few extra unused cards on my credit history. But hell, who wants to buy a new house now anyway?!?!

I probably have about ten cards(zero debt) and have had no issues getting 5 mortgages in my time.

just one not counting my debit card... amazon visa with a 12K limit.

I don't pay it off every month, but I've never carried a balance bigger than 2K and never for long -- I've currently got $750 on it. I try and make 2 x $250 payments every month.

I only have one. I've thought about getting more because I read it can boost your FICO score (decreased credit utilization plus better mix of accounts), but based on my spending I don't really stand to benefit much from any other cards.

The Chase Freedom card pretty much gives me the best deal for my spending habits. I could gain a little more by adding the Penfed Visa (5% cash back on gas vs. 3.75% from the Chase Freedom) or the Amazon Visa (3% rewards on Amazon purchases vs. 1.25% from the Chase Freedom).

3: Amex, Visa through BoA, and Amazon.com Visa. Only use the first 2 and only because Amex isn't taken everywhere, otherwise I'd just use the Amex.

Amex - Blue
AMEX - Delta
AMEX - Starwood Biz
BOA - Worldpoints
Captial One
Chase - Freedom
Chase - Marriott
Chase - rewards/Perfect
Chase - SONY
Chase - United
Chase - Universal
Citi - Diamond Pref
Citi - Dividend
Citi - MTVutm
Citi - Professional
Discover
Discover - Miles
HSBC
Providian

I just canceled amex delta today.

Two, one for my stuff like gas, college books, online purchases, that I pay off every month, and one that has a higher limit that is usually empty most months, I save it for business expenses and car repairs. Again, pay it off any month there is a charge on it.
