Just one. No way I'd want more than one. But then again, I don't have a TON of bills or am in a ton of debt.

Are we including vendor-specific cards too, like Walmart, GAP, etc?

Otherwise, I just have 5: two Visas, one MC, one AMEX, and one Discover.

Amex Blue (online purchases)
Amex Gold Charge Card (in-store purchases)
MBNA Merrill+ Visa (in-store purchases where Amex isn't accepted)
MBNA Mastercard (don't use anymore)
Credit Union Visa Platinum (longest history)
Amazon.com Visa Platinum (Amazon purchases)
Best Buy (don't use anymore)
CompUSA (don't use anymore)

i guess that makes 8. since i PIF, i don't care about interest rates, high revolving balances, or anything that can drag down my FICO

10. I should have 1 more coming.

1. citi dvdiend (use most often, nothing can beat 5% cashback for gas, supermarket and drugstore)
2. Amex gold reward (double point for cellphone bill and usps spending)
i don't really use the rest.

Isn't that an oxymoron? The purpose of a credit card is to lend money, so what's the point of borrowing your own money?

1. Paid off every month in full.

Credit Card Companies call people like you (and Ben Stein) "deadbeats".

Is he suppose to be insulted? THis just means he has excellent credit

haha, i love it when people think cash > credit. it is very amusing  its even better when they think a debit card, if you press the credit button, functions like a credit card.

i have 3 and when i have more income i will get at least 1 more.

cash > credit for those not smart enough to handle credit.
credit > cash for the smart.
