What do you use your extra boxes for?

I'll go first.

One PC, use it for surfing the net, Office applications.
 
Main machine, laptop, firewall, jukebox server, and one box I'm not sure what to do with (Sun SPARCServer 1000E). So 5 total.
 
Main rig -> gaming
Presario -> linux server/occasional web surfing
iBook -> out for repairs
VAIO -> coming soon, main 'web surfing', gentoo hacking mobile workstation
 
Me personaly, about three:
I let my sister use one.
I use one for a server.
The other one is the one I'm on and is for normal stuff.


To tell you the truth, I think we have >10 working computers in this house.

I've got one I use for browsing/gaming/burning/ect. My wife has one she uses for browsing and school stuff.

I have laptop from work that I use when sitting in front of the TV.

5 that work. well, 6, but a 13 year old powerbook doesn't do anything. i boot it every once in a while for kicks. has a dead line on the lcd.

edit: two are usually off (one has a whiny hard drive and the other only gets remote desktop'd into). main game rig, file rig (pr0n), and laptop that i take everywhere.
 
3. Main desktop that I use for pretty much everything, old desktop that I use as a HTPC and download machine, and my laptop that I use for programming and doing the same basic stuff that I do on my desktop, just not at my desktop.
 
4 in my dorm room, main machine, server, Fedora box, old server

Server at home, most of the parts in the "family computer", 5 other random old boxes

my old compaq just sits on the floor collecting dust (duron 700mhz) and my home-built is my daily driver 🙂

I got 5.

1) Barton: Gaming rig, my main machine.
2) Duron: Wife's computer.
3) Tbird: Server, shares internet, stores music, etc.
4) Celeron 300: An older Compaq which hosts a private BBS for my wife and I.
5) P150: Laptop mostly for double checking web site work.

I also have a 386 and a P75 in my closet, and enough parts to throw together a K6-III+ system..

well i have mine and my wife's laptop.

but thats because we are in a smaller house now. when we were in oure old one (5 bedrooms, living room, family room and office). we had 5 computers up and running. two in the office, one in the bedroom, one in the basement and one in the living room (crappy entertainment computer)

we are looking at getting a 4 bedroom house with basement. i will slowly upgrade!
