How many chips should i get for poker?

well, normally have like 6-10 people playing not often many more, but how many chips would you reccomend? normally like a $2 buy in, ive never had a larger buy in, but im sure it might get bigger with certain people. I was figuring 500 would be nice, but might be overkill, im not sure, would 300 chips work?

I have 1000, have played with as many as 12. If you could have 10, I'd get at least 650, but that's just me. It's more fun for everyone to have a lot of chips in front of them, even if they're short stacked.

hmm, i think 500 would be a good start, however, i know 11.5g is the weight to get, just not sure which kind i should get off of ebay. The royal flush seem to be the most costly, and a few of the only labeled chips. they also look the best, however i am not sure if they are worth the difference.
