How many checking accounts do you have?

2

Online bank that pays 4.5% interest on checking and free checking account at local bank so I can cash my wife's expense checks, rebates, etc.

Wife doesn't want to have an ATM card, but does want to keep the checkbook to our joint account. I have a personal checking account, so I can have running money and an ATM/Debit card. Also, it provides me with checks in the odd situation where I need to write a check and she is out of town.

1 is "linked" with my parents account, they are the top-level so we get all the good benefits, and if there is ever a difficulty they will fix it - all direct deposits/online bill pay setup here

unfortunately Chase doesnt have any branches in Atlanta, so I got another one

Wachovia is literally across the street and has branches on campus so I keep enough in there to get cash out whenever I need it, just move money into it using ING

1) checking account I get paid to and write checks/pay bills from. B&M
2) interest bearing, high balance, my short-term account
3) another high balance that I bring investments in and out of. in wifes name for tax purposes

too complicated i guess

5 I think?

Really only use two of them.

One is for paying bills and the other is only used for Paypal transactions.

1 checking, and 2 savings. One is at my credit union which I have to drive across town to get to. That's where I keep the money I don't wanna mess with. 🙂

I've got one that my car payment's are automatically deducted from & it also doubles as an account with backup funding in it.

3

One for husband and me for personal use.
One for another person and me for a condo we own (paying bills, depositing rental payments, etc.)
One I just opened yesterday so I could get a 7-mo, 6% CD. I'll close that one when the CD comes due, unless that's the best place I find to put the money at that particular time.

5

1 for my business
1 for my play money
1 joint for our bills/house stuff
1 that has money sitting in it but I never use
1 backup account which we just add to.

3, same as my savings, but none of them have any money in them. Ever. I just never get around to closing them, and they're useful to cash checks occassionally.
