Color me skeptical, but what possible value would knowing the # of CD's hold. The only I can think of is looking for the program illegally, making sure you have everything. Am I wrong?

Maybe they want to buy MS products from that crazy Russian who pimped their pirated-MS-software site over in Hot Deals this week, and wants to make sure Ivan is advertising the correct number of discs.

Or there could be a perfectly legal reason for this, although it escapes me this early in the morning.

Edit: I actually tried looking for you real quick. The academic version is only $150 - that's only $150 more than OpenOffice. But I didn't see the # of CDs advertised.

I'm pretty sure only one cd holds all the goods. All the other cds contain God knows what.

And depending on your school's deal with MS the license might only be valid while you're in school, you need to read the agreement they give you.
