How many case fans do I need?

I just bought the Antec 1650 (Text) and it came with the rear fan, but it also has a place for a fan on the front and side of the case. Do I need to add fans there?

I will be running an AMD Athlon CP 2600+, 2 optical drives, 2 hard drives, 2 x 256 mb RAM, and a 32 mb video card (I don't play games).

Thanks
Matt

You CAN add the additional fans but for a setup like your it's not needed. I would say add an intake and call it a day.
What's an intake?

What kind of setup would you need the extra fans for? An OC'ed system? (Which I will not do).

How much hardware do you have in your case? The more hardware you have, the more heat. I have three hard drives in my system, so I included one extra intake (a fan that blows air into the system). I have two intake fans at the front, two exhausts (fans turned the other way to blow hot air out) and an extra intake on the side cooling the video card. If your case allows for this, then go ahead. You have to worry about noise though. However, I purchased a fan controller so that I can vary the speed as the temperature changes.

I have a system slightly larger than yours (three hard disks) and find I get buy well with the one 120mm fan in the rear. No extreme overclocking here. Note that I also use a PSU with a 120mm fan for more air flow and lower noise. I have a fan installed in the front of the case, but as per Antec notes, for a quieter system you may wish to do without the front fan. My system stays cool without the front fan and my computer stays quiet.

The amount of air being pulled into your case must match the amount of air being exhausted from your system, i.e., for every intake fan, there must be an exhaust fan.
