I'm 6' and 244, I stay moderately active. Looking to gradually increase that to very active once the weather finally stays warm. Can anyone give me an idea on how many calories I need consume to prevent my metabolism from falling? I tend to under eat not intentionally, but my appetite tends to fall off a bit the more active I am (weird I know).

Anyway the last 3 weeks I've been pretty active doing medium to high intensity cardio, pushups, a little weight training and yet my weight has pretty much stayed the same (maybe a difference of 2-3 pounds). I did some research and that led me to believe to that perhaps I was eating to many calories, but after recording what I was eating the last few days I realize that I was not eating enough (somewhere between 1300-1800 most days). So now I'm working on trying to determine how many calories I need per day. Any suggestions? I've read a lot of different theories on what's needed.

Is it possible to get constant muscle growth even when training with lighter weights if high reps are employed?

I'm about 200 lbs and to maintain my weight I eat about 2700... I would think you should be consuming at least that.

If you are trying to lose weight, 1300 is pretty low, but if you were closer to 1800 you should be doing OK dropping some weight

I seriously doubt you're consuming 1800 calories, being moderately active and not losing weight.

I would look into how you're calculating your calorie intact and adjust it accordingly. You're BMR (if you're 28) is 2310, so just eating that should cause you to drop a weight, especially if you're moderately active.

Phew! The title has you at 6 inches. I was thinking the answer would be- Not very much! :)

Glad you corrected that in the post.

Working out for an hour a day? 30 minutes? Is cardio running 2 miles or 5?

I'd guess that if you shoot for 2000 cals that you'll be loosing plenty of weight. Try to keep na eye on als over 2-3 days. 1500 on Monday and 2500 on Tuesday isn't much differnt than 2000 on Monday and 2000 on Tuesday in terms of trying to loose weight.

Are you weighing your food? If not, you aren't getting an accurate measurement of how much you're eating.

Losing 2-3 pounds over 3 weeks isn't bad if you are taking weight loss casually.
