How Many Calories Do You Burn

GasX

Lifer
Calories Burned Calculator

This is pretty cool if you are interested in that kind of thing...

Here are the numbers from my group ride yesterday:

Male 37, 5'11", 182 lb: BMI=25.4 BMR=1,853 RMR=1,773

Bicycling (32 miles at 16.5 mph)

1,793 calories in 1 hr 56 min

what would Ultimate Frisbee be considered on the activity list?

edit: lol...its on the list

1,379 Cals in 2 hours

Totals: 3,600 calories in 2 hr 4 min
Male 41, 6'4", 240 lb: BMI=29.2 BMR=2,251 RMR=2,095
Bicycling - over 20 mph (racing)
3,600 calories in 2 hr 4 min

Calorie Balance: 0 consumed - 3,600 burned = 3,600 lost

Biked 40 miles this morning, 30 yesterday and 40 on Monday. 30 or 40 tomorrow, depends on how my legs feel.

Man if that is true you are a hoss, how in heck can you bike that much. I consider 18 miles in an hour to be good for me on the stationary bikes.

Bah, that thing sucks for mountain biking. It won't calculate anything for an average speed of 7.2mph, and it has no provisions for the 1,800 feet of climbing i did on Sunday.

It says if I ride to work in an hour (at 16.5mph), I burn 1,016 calories.

I dont know, I guess about 600-800 in an hour.

Use the link and know for sure!

For what it's worth I use a heart rate monitor that calculates calories burned and it generally comes out to 600-800 in an hour of cardio/weights.

That's because Mountain Biking is easy... 😛

Seriously though, that is a hard sport to measure because there are so many variables.
speed, cadence, terrain, steepness and lentgh of ascents, steepness and length of descents, etc... Also, descending on a MTB is way more intense physically than on a road bike

This doesn't say anything about calories burned, but I find it more rewarding than a number, anyway: view from the top of my ride (I started down by the ocean).

Better link.

Around 900-1000 in my run, and then some more depending on how much Weight training I do. And then whatever my cool down walk is worth.

1846 cal for 2 hours of climbing
1259 cal for 3 hours of kayaking

I think those numbers are somewhat inflated, but even if they are 2x what they really are, that's pretty good IMO. I can't imagine that I burn less calories in my marathon kayaking sessions than I do in my climbing sessions.

This is what I did on my lunch break - It didn't look like they had interval training on there, so I just averaged it. That may vary it alittle.

Totals: 459 calories in 20 min

Male 25, 6'2", 225 lb: BMI=28.9 BMR=2,240 RMR=2,075
Running - 8 mph
459 calories in 20 min

Calorie Balance: 0 consumed - 459 burned = 459 lost

Pretty good - the computer on the treadmill calculates it using age/weight and it said 420 calories.
