Last month I hit what I am pretty sure is my 4th place of business I've been kicked out of (2 strip clubs, 1 bar and now one rando shop).

I was standing in front of some shelves in Luxembourg that had some cheap Chinese made tourist trinkets that were overpriced at the 5-10 euro price tags. The store also sold convenience store food and drinks. While I was standing there my wife texted me a picture of a building she thought was cute.

A lady ran over and started yelling at me. "NO PHOTO!" I told her I didn't take a photo and we started arguing. I even showed her my recent photos.
"No - I KNOW you took a photo so I'm kicking you out."
"Just so we're clear - you're kicking me out because you don't know how cell phones work?"
"I know how cell phones work!"
Always the one to de-escalate the situation I replied: "Ha! No - no you don't understand because you think getting a text is the same as taking a photo. Stupidest thing I've heard in a while"
She then points to a rather hidden sign that showed a cell phone with an X through it.
"I don't need you with your cell phone in here. I don't allow cell phones. Get out of here with your cell phone!"

I was tempted to keep pressing the issue (like the absurdity of not allowing someone with a cell phone in her store) but I was in a foreign country on vacation so it made more sense to leave. Still bothers me a little that this is, by far, the worst that I have ever been treated as a tourist but things could be worse. So there's that

Yea best to be careful if your not a native. I'm convinced that the majority of small convenience shops all over the world are fronts for money laundering there is no way they make enough to pay rent. Serbian mafia probably has roots all over the area

bet something shady was going on

good news, there's no way she would have called the cops

bad news, she might have called some of her 'associates'

None.

They probably just don't want people photographing the trinkets to prove they're from aliexpress.com. Heck, there might even be some import/export laws they're skirting.

A handful of bars when I was a youth...but my favorite place to get kicked out of was a grocery store...for beating the shit out of a thief (who had robbed my house) in the checkout line. (long story...no time to tell it now)

Two. A Taco Bell on my twenty first birthday and a bar.

I didn't even get kicked out of the bar for an honorable reason. The fucking bartender cut me off because she said I had drank enough and ejected me when I mouthed off. Luckily it was on a strip of bars so it didn't really matter.

Two places, I think, but I was blacked-out at those times so I don't remember the details.

Don't you know that in most strip clubs, that it's not a good idea to touch the girls? Go to Montreal if you wanna grab the goods.

But Exterous that is indeed a BS reason why u guys got kicked out.

I am thinking the lady is probably raciest, and didn't want you in there to begin with so she cocked up a BS reason to get you to leave.

Unfortunately, you will see a lot of that in Los Angeles even, inside KoreaTown, and its all justified because they have a sign saying "We reserve the right to refuse service".

I have been asked to leave when taking some of my friends out to eat, because they were latino, and had tat's all over looking like gang members, but they were my friends from UCSB who graduated with me. LOL...

After sweet talking the waitress in Korean, she allowed us to stay, but, racism is hardcore in Ktown. :T

Just one.
And not actually KICKED out, just told they dont want my business anymore.

Of course, THEY'RE the ones who kept serving a homicidal maniac well after he was clearly intoxicated.
Interestingly, the video of that incident disappeared the day after it happened.

I've never been kicked out of anywhere, but remember hanging out in a bar 18 years ago when a guy walks in. The first thing out of his mouth was, "Those sons of bitches kicked me out!" Talking about the last place he came from. Of course, I knew he was probably hot-headed and drunk so my response naturally was, "Hell Fire! They shouldn't have done that shit!" It's interesting interacting with people that are drunk and stupid. I rarely use profanity when speaking (and writing), but sometimes it helps build trust among the less intelligent when you don't use the King's English to communicate.

As for your situation...yes, when you aren't from there, don't start something with the locals. Just say good day, bow, apologize, etc...and go somewhere else and live to fight another day. It's not worth escalating something when you don't have home court advantage (I mean that literally and figuratively).

I once got kicked out of a Go Cart track because my buddy spun me out when I kept blocking his passes. To this day, I feel like I won that race because by buddy cheated :)

Just a strip club...I was so drunk and walked into the woman's washroom. I thought it was an honest mistake.

When I was a kid (like 20) some guys took me to a 24 hour strip club on a Monday night. I wonder if they still have those?

They stopped serving booze from like 2-5 but people just went to their cars and drank during that time if they wanted to.

You should have seen the talent stripping at 4 AM on a Monday. Cannot be unseen.

Hmm, I was asked to escort my friend out of a bar once (let's call that half) and in a tourist trip to L.A. a ritzy clothing store on rodeo drive had a hovering sales person happy to help me with whatever I needed while making it quite clear I did not need to touch anything - let's call that one quarter, so in total .75?

Like some of the nail salons and bodegas in NYC. In some areas, there is no way they can do enough business to support rent.
