Just noticed the Freeserve banner ad and it got me thinking - there must be a substantial number of Brits who visit these boards frequently otherwise Freeserve wouldn't pay to advertise here.

So, how many other Brits come here regularly?

Yeah, I use NTLWorld too - the one which had free call charges up until January 2002. Saying that they haven't started charging me for it yet :)

I was reading the FAQ`s section and it said,

<< I have recently signed up to ntlworld and was a former C&W customer
--
We recognise that you have only recently received the service following the closure of the C&W bureau and therefore we will continue to provide you with free internet access until May this year. We will write to you in April with more information on the charges and the actions that you will need to take.

Please do not worry - you will get full and clear instructions later in the year. In the meantime continue to enjoy our free award winning ntlworld service.

So looks like I`ve it free until May :).

Thats excellent news! When I finish Uni I'll look into getting Broadband but until then its Dial Up all the way. A friend of mine has been on BT OpenWorld for a couple of months, after the initial teething trouble its turned out to be an excellent service.

Another one here.
I guess Anandtech is set up so that it can recognise whereabouts in the world you are from and can give you adverts accordingly as a few weeks ago it was nothing but British ads.

Incidentally on the Broadband thing, I have just signed up for Pipex ADSL, £30 a month for 512/256 and no minimum contract. It seems great so far.

Yep, i'm another one from the sunny UK.

I must admit that i do not even notice the banner adds here any more, you know where they are going to be so i don't bother looking in those places.

I want to get broadband but it's not availible yet in my area, i've looked and the local exchange is about a mile away, is that close enough?

I'm a brit when I want to be. Sometimes at work I answer the phone with either a French, Spanish, or English accent which I seem to do fairly well. The first time I talked to the only brit on my team, I fooled him into thinking that I was from Liverpool :)

LOL, I live about 15 miles from Liverpool so I have a Liverpudlian (that spelt correctly?) accent. Jeez, you fooled a BRITISH guy into thinking you were from Liverpool - the guy must of been pretty dumb. I always think Americans talking with a British accent is really funny, kinda like me putting on an American accent I guess - it just doesn't sound right.

Dunno, is she cute? :)

On second thoughts, if you had to go all the way to Texas to get away from her, I think I'll say out of it :D

Chalk another one up - UK rules! :)

I use BTOpenworld ADSL, and they have screwed me over, I am moving house and I still have to pay off the rest of my contract even if I want to continue using ADSL in my new house.

Bastards.
