How many ATers do you think are marketing sock puppets?

Just a friday morning question. Lately, I've seen a good pile of threads / posts that look suspiciously like advertisements, under the guise of users opinions.

I know some guy got caught in Video a while back shilling for Nvidia (IIRC), and I've smelled a guerilla marketing campaign for 300 all over the net lately...the Rap Cat thing kinda stinks of it too, but not as much...

The surprising part is, much of it is done by lifers...so,

a) Are these people accepting cash to do it? Or are they amazingly well planned out sock puppets?
b) If not, are they just victims of the marketing themselves?

No, Rap Cat is horrible. I couldn't believe it when I saw it. It's just so over the top.... I felt compelled to post about it.
