How many AOL internet users can there still be?

I've been looking for the statistics but I can't seem to find any.

I have a website that runs fine in IE, Netscape, and Firefox. Then I looked at it on a PC that used the AOL browser and lots of the site's functions didn't function!

AOL is like a cancer that wont go away

aol users don't deserve good websites. You can run any browser you want externally with an aol connection- there is no excuse 😛

Does AOL have Netscape integrated into it now or are they still using the IE engine? If still IE, it's probably something like IE5's engine.

As for how many, several million. The thing is, most of them aren't likely to be the type visiting your website or most of the sites people here like. And even if they did, they most likely find sites via AOL's own content links, so unless AOL wanted to hook up with you, they aren't finding their way to your site.

I tried running IE just using the AOL connection and my site still didn't work.

Matter of fact, I tried logging onto Anandtech via IE through AOL and I kept getting an error message (Error Code 189. 'you are not permitted to logon to this site).

I am logged in through AOL right now.

I'm logged on to ATOT via AOL on the AOL browser. When I try logging on using IE after connecting through the AOL network I am blocked from logging on.

Weird. I am still logging onto the 'net with AOL but I can't log onto Anandtech by using Firefox or IE...only if I use the freakin' piece of junk AOL browser.

I believe AOL's browser is a dead weight GUI piled on top of whatever version of IE is on the machine.

If you want to know how much dead weight it is, try uninstalling it. Then, run a good registry cleaner. Then, go through it manually, and you'll see a lot of dead garbage is still left.

Then, back up your registry, and manually delete every reference to AOL, and America On Line, and reboot. The machine should be much faster. 🙂
