People dont just die from covid, they die from the complications of covid. People dont just die from sepsis but the complications. People die from acite respiratory failure, hemmoragic shock or cardiac arrest to name a few.
If they had not contracted COVID, would they have died that day?

One absolute is that the day we are conceived, we are on a one-way journey toward the day we die. There are many many opportunities along that journey to arrive at that end. But only one of them will actually cause death. Granted other factors make it easier for that one factor, but that is the cause, with contributions from other factors/diseases.

The person that commits suicide because their life is nothing but suffering from something like cancer, died by suicide, even though cancer is the rational for committing suicide.

Lots of people that watch Fox News are convinced that the real number is less than 100k deaths because doctors are writing fake death certificates to get paid. It doesn't matter that you educate that no one gets money for how they fill out a death certificate. It's ridiculous.

Anonymous WH officials and Atlas trying to sell something that recordings of Trump himself indicate would be a terrible idea.

Good luck guys.

Since the White House policy is now effectively hands off any COVID mitigation/prevention efforts aka herd immunity aka herd mentality, can the poll be revised to give an option of "all COVID deaths from October 14, 2020 and after"?

Donald Trump: Biden Better Take COVID-19 More Seriously or He Might Get It and Infect a Bunch of People

You can't make this shit up. Doesn't someone have a straight jacket laying around.

That crowd didn't get crazy by accident. Trump does things to their minds that are uncanny.

My own guess has been around 700k for US deaths through next summer/early fall. At the time I thought that was sort of a worst case. Well, looks like that's just our new reality.

Don't confuse freedom with "Too stupid, too proud, and too stubborn to take simple precautions". This is solidly an American disease. Both in practice and outcome.

I heard on the radio several models (which have been mostly right as in little variance) have predicted 500k by February can’t remember if it was beginning or end of February.

Oct 14, 2020 Trump said "Open your states!"

Oct 14, 2020 there were almost 60,000 new covid cases.

With just a bit more effort he could get us all killed.

'nuff said.

It's unbelievable that they are considering herd immunity when studies are showing there's a risk of reinfection. Those with underlying conditions might die the first time they get it but healthly people can get long-term problems from COVID and that would increase their risk of death from an reinfection.

It's worse than that. Left to propagate on a natural trajectory, the number of serious infections will swamp the ability of the healthcare system to provide life saving care to those who need it. Just bury it under cases. Oh, and we're coming up on flu season, too.

Trump's actions are a crime against the American People & all of Humanity.

It is unbelievable they are considering herd immunity when regardless of whether it works or not it will mean well over 2 million dead.

Probably much higher, since the hospital system will complete collapse. And, for funsies, it would likely take 25 years for the US economy to recover - we'd become a third world nation again.
At least the rich would be able to move their assets and homes to more prosperous nations. /s

What number is above "well higher than 2 million". To be honest i suspect over 5 million but 2 million was safe to throw in the thread ;)

Yeah, wasn't very clear was I. I expect there to be knock on effects that will accelerate infection rates and thus mortality rates will jump much higher.
With an inability to treat the vast majority of the moderate to seriously infected, the 'herd immunity' bit will truly become fiction as the re-infection rates go up over time as well.
The virus will not go away and will likely circulate throughout the country and world population for decades - that's how stupid this idea is.

I'm not much for public shaming, but these idiots should be tarred and feathered.
