Yeah... I just checked stats again, 7 day average is now at 3,300 daily deaths. 9/11 every day and half the country still thinks it's a hoax. Or to put it another way with 365 days a year we're on track for more than 1 million dead a year. Right now it's a race between vaccination and unfettered virus raging through communities of people too ignorant to take proper precautions. Even with vaccines administered there is a very real chance we'll hit 1 million dead before it's over because we're nearly 400,000 there and because I expect close to 40% will reject vaccine.

I think those that said a million might be right once Covid fades mostly out and we count all the excess deaths from Jan 2020-end of pandemic. With excess deaths we are already over 500k.

Walgreen's statement in that article is kind of a lie from the info I've heard, from what I know they're asking full time pharmacists to work the vaccine clinics in addition to their job, have not heard they're hiring and training new people like he claims in that article. May be different in different areas but that's what is happening around here from what I know.

Also, there are documented allergic reactions to all marketed vaccines. It's not unheard of to see some small subset of people have an allergic reaction. It is a severe disservice to medical communication to overly report these isolated incidents without also highlighting the dangers of actually contracting COVID-19 or the rarity of these incidents in the first place.

Plus, if one of these very rare cases of an allergic reaction arises, they can be easily dealt with using diphenhydramine (Benadryl) or epinephrine (eg, EpiPen).
