weren't the IBM chips the exact same as the Cyrix?

DIdn't Cyrix contract it's IBM to make the chip until National Semi-conductor bought Cyrix and destroyed the company?

I think VIA bought out Cyrix and one other CPU designer to eventually pimp out their samual chip

The Cyrix "6x86" chips were actually 5x86 class chips. It competed with the Intel Pentium MMX, AMD K5 and NexGen 5x86. It also ran on Intel compatible socket 7 motherboards that held the Pentium and K5 chips.

They all had the Pentium's P54C/P55C pinouts.

Only good thing to come out of this thread. What DID happen to them?

VIA bought them, and their CPU design became the VIA C3.
