We get those maps all of the time, i dont think there is a limit, just tell them your situation. Otherwise there are AAA's all over the place, just hit one up in each place.

If you have a membership, you simply give them a call, tell them you'd like maps of the areas you'll be travelling through, give them a couple of days to compile the info, and they will give you information regarding that.

To my knowledge, they will not just randomly give you all the maps you want, because people would abuse that.

edit:

Please select the publication(s) you are requesting, and then click "Continue with Order" at the bottom of this page. To select more than one publication, use the CTRL key while selecting.
Your order will be mailed to the member at the address you specify on the next page. You should receive your order within 10 days. If you require your Publications sooner, please visit a local AAA office.

You may select up to 10 publications.

Not sure if this applies to going and picking things up. I know they ask for your membership card/info when you get maps, so it's likely they keep a record of what you are getting.

Yeah, no kidding. It would be easier to go to walmart and buya spiral bound one for 10 bucks than to tote around 40 some fold out maps.

well, if he's paying 50 bux for the AAA membership, he might as well get the maps there. Also, I think they give members discounts on Atlases at the AAA store.

Even still, an atlas would be more comfortable to use on a drive than a map is simply because most driving maps unfold to about 3'x4' or so. The only thing a person needs those big maps for is finding detailed directions to an exact location... not simply cruising the open roads as he's implying.

A road atlas is better than dozens of fold-up paper maps, no contest. It doesn't matter if the maps are free and the atlas is $10, the atlas is the better and more useful tool for the job.
