I'm going to have 5 servers running windows 2000 server. I can get a 20 client access license cheap. If each server is going to be running independantly of each other but each will also need to connect to another server running sql server 2000, how do I apply these licenses?
Basically each server will be running www/IIS and coldfusion server, hosting webpages that anonymous iis users willbe connecting to. there will be a central database server and each www server will need to access that database server. I know I need a sql 2000 client access license for each www server connecting to it, but how do i use the cal's towards the webservers? they are connecting to the sql server, not the other way around.
I have copies of windows 2000 server installation disks that are for volume licensing and don't require a key.
But they are just copies. I was thinking MS was worried about whether you had a license and didn't care about where the actual disk care from..
I'm hoping I can just buy this 20 Client license pack for windows 2000 server and use them to legally setup these servers..
