How Low is GOOD ENOUGH for CPU Temps? How about Running at 50c day-in-day out?

I have 5 x 80mm TopMotors fans @ 30cfm for my Antec SX830. It feels pretty loud, at first I didn't notice but now it's becoming more and more annoying.

My 1.2Ghz non-OC using Volcano II runs at 32~34c Idle, and around 39~41c at full load. I wonder running it at 50c or so would be acceptable for daily operation? Would it reduce the chip's lifespan? I'm thinking of getting rid of 3 fans.

You wouldn't want to go any higher than 50c under load. But under that is ok.

You can go higher than 50C under full load with out many problems. 60C is where you should start to get concerned.

I like to try to keep my CPU under 50C just because, but you'll be ok if you're a little over.

with amd chips, too dependant on what mb you're using to give you a good answer... with a k7t-turbo or an a7v class board, 50-60C is normal. Converseley, on a mb like the msi pro2a, 50-60C is pretty darn high.

I'm beginning to question Epox's sensors. I hope it's not lying about 37c CPU temp. I'd be worried if that's not a true readout.

I just took one fan out, same temp readout. I'll remove more if this temp continues.

from what i've read it is best to keep a processor at a constant temperature, since contraction/expansion can muck things up...even if your fans only lower the temp by a few degrees (my 7 fans only lower it by 6-8) it helps even if it's loud...

Hey, I have a friend in Asia who run his 1.33 Athlon at 60C all day long. He can't avoid that because his room temp is 30C.
